The body of a 66-year-old man was found in the Ottawa River just west of Deep River on Saturday afternoon, the Ontario Provincial Police reported.

The OPP’s Underwater Search and Recovery Unit was called in to assist the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment in the search for the man.

On Friday, officers received information about an unoccupied boat circling around on the Ottawa River. First responders confirmed that one person had been on the boat, but was missing.

The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario has been engaged in the case, and a post mortem examination will be conducted as part of the investigation, an OPP news release said.
