Windies lose first ODI against India after poor batting display

Another spineless batting performance from the West Indies saw them suffering a heavy five wicket defeat against India in the first One Day International (ODI) at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The Windies were bamboozled by the spin of Kuldeep Yadav 4-6 and Ravindra Jadeja 3-37 to be bundled out for 114 in 23 overs.

Captain Shai Hope was the best of a struggling bunch with 43, while Alick Athanaze made 22 and Jamaican Brandon King 17.

Seven batters failed to cross double figures in the innings after the Caribbean team was inserted. India in reply, got to victory at 118-5 in 22.5 overs.

The West Indies have not beaten India in an ODI series since 2006.
